Dr. Katja Yang is Head of the Division Asia within the Department Sponsorship and Network of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. Her responsibilities include managing the Feodor Lynen Research Fellowship program as well as the promotion of the Humboldt Network in Asia.
Katja Yang studied sinology, philosophy and business at the University of Wuerzburg (Germany), Beijing Language and Culture University and Peking University. She earned her Ph.D. in sinology at the University of Wuerzburg in a research project on political culture in contemporary urban China, sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. Afterwards she acted as Managing Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Bonn since August 2017, before joining the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in March 2021.
