Digitalization to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals

7 Nov

Digital technologies are making a significant impact in the world. How do we make sure that innovations lessen and not exacerbate our global footprint?

PANEL DISCUSSION: The Future of Sustainable and Digital Fashion
The fashion industry contributes $2.4 trillion to global manufacturing and employs 300 million people worldwide across the value chain (many of them women). However, it is responsible for an estimated 2-8% of the world's greenhouse gas emissions. Further, around 215 trillion liters of water per year are consumed by the industry and textiles. Alarmingly, The fashion industry is a major contributor to microplastic pollution of the ocean. Over a third (35 percent) of all microplastics released into the world's oceans are from synthetic textiles. The webinar aims to discuss sustainability in the fashion industry featuring exchanges of innovative solutions fuelled by scientific collaboration and social impact. The aim is to inspire collective efforts toward a more conscious fashion future across sectors and generations.
